These photographs are part of a long-running series investigating the atmosphere, primarily through weather.
Mostly eschewing the usual convention of landscape and nature photography employing a close reference point within the foreground, these photographs situate the viewer within the context of our larger physical world. Clouds are infinitely variable and often possess astonishing beauty. By studying the atmosphere from all angles—above, below, and ground level — perhaps we might open our minds to the presence of the physical world so much larger than us.
Beauty is so close that it is often hard to see.
Jeff is Los Angeles-based but is often in the field or on the move.
